When the temperature drops, our heating bills will inevitably go up.  To help offset the cost of our heating bill this winter, I got a wood stove from my uncle to retro fit into our old masonry fireplace.  Old open masonry fireplaces aren’t as efficient as a wood stove where you can control the amount of air getting to the fire.  Read more >>

Ever run a car on Solid Lard? We did :)

Ok ok, so it wasn’t solid lard, but it was solid Palm Oil.  At room temperature Palm Oil is in a fairly solid state, kind of like the way bacon grease gets after it’s cooled down.  Surprisingly, it can burn in your diesel engine, so long as you let your straight vegetable oil system warm it up beyond its melting point.  The trick is getting it into your tank when it’s solid like butter :)  The trick, cut it into small manageable chunks and RAM it into the fill port of your heated veggie tank!  Read more >>
